Autumn in the woods can be fairytale; a place of mystery and majicks.

There is a deep and primeval kinship with the forest for me, and I assume for other people too. It can be a place of tangible silences, unexpected movement and never ending recycling life. I find all of that comforting. Autumn is a season of richness, colour and earthy spices, the year's face being shed.

Capturing that richness in all its detail and scope can be difficult in one image, but it I find it important to try.

Getting a result I like

For the first time in a long, long while, a picture that I have taken that I find no fault with, self-critic that I am.

Scene from the ruins of St Dunstan in the East church, London, bombed in WWII now an award winning public space.
